I am hosting a book club and I need a list of books that boys and girls would like in the 3rd - 5th grade level.
Thanks!!!

The range of reading ability can vary greatly between third and 5th grade. Are you reading together or assigning work?
Roald Dahl? But it may be too hard for some third graders.
Marguerite Henry's books.
Depending on the maturity of the girls I would suggest Homeless Bird. It might not be interesting or appropriate for a young 9 year old but it would be perfect for late 4th and 5th grade. I loved it!
Hmm, I think it's hard to answer -- gifted 3rd-5th graders? 5-6 year olds reading at that level? (Z must be beyond that, though.)
Here are a few thoughts from our "Inside Stories" book, which I think was 4-5 grade: Ben and Me (a mouse and Ben Franklin), From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, Caddie Woodlawn, Island of the Blue Dolphins, Lion/Witch/Wardrobe. (You can find the books and their TOC at Prufrock Press.)
Not sure why, but I can't get Violet to touch Caddie Woodlawn with a 10ft pole! I think of those we had our best discussions with the Frankweiler book and Blue Dolphins.
