Anyone's kid read Eragon? Z is just starting it and I wonder if it is too mature (i.e. is there sex in it?) I am checking it out now but I would appreciate feedback from you all if you have any.

I've never read it, but have seen discussions and reviews about it, and basically its just not very well written. It has poor characterisation and a weak plot. It's violent too. But that's all I know.
Ami has it, she picked it up at Walmart several months ago and it on her shelf to read. I would think Z would like it because she is Harry Potter fan.
Ami is taking a break from fantasy at the moment she got too freaked out by Cornelia Funke. For now, I try to guide her to gentler historical novels but allow her to read adult level for facts.
Grace LOVES it. She's certainly taken to it like a duck to water! The story is great, and no overt sex stuff has shown up yet...2/3 of the way through. Much better than the movie, which DH and I saw but, thankfully, Grace did not! Forte
K has not read it - I think she is not ready for the violence yet. I have read it, though, and I liked it. It is a bit of a LOTR rip-off, but if you look past that, it's very enjoyable. There was no sex or romance in Eragon that I can remember, but I think there was a bit in Eldest - though still not overt. Anyway, I think Z would be fine with it - I'd let K read if it weren't for the violence, and I don't think Z is quite as sensitive to that :-)
There is a new blog called Clean Reads that you might be interested in following. I haven't read much of the content but I like the idea behind the blog.
